  1. Hi! A friend gave me an old Anker Automatic sewing machine, sadly sans cord. I’m not sure I could plug it in anyway, as I am in U.S. and it looks like this is a German machine. I’ve searched the web and not found much of anything useful. Can you shed any light? (I still sew on the Singer zigzag my parents gave me in the 1960’s.) I’ve enjoyed looking at your site. Thank you.

    1. Hi Louise, I would suggest you look in your local area for a sewing machine technician and ask there. Most of these early machines can easily be fitted with an external motor, even put in an industrial table with motor. Failing that you should be able to find a motor online. I would suggest joining one of the Vintage sewing machine groups on FB, there are plenty of helpful people out there who may be able to help. I believe this gentleman to be a reliable source of information and parts. Fred Sanford’s Vintage Sewing Machine Parts & attachments https://www.facebook.com/groups/1437769256511453

  2. With a friend I repair sewing machine and make them fit for work. Once in working order, we send them to Gambia to people we know including to a girls school where students that take sewing lessons, receive a sewing machine of their own at there graduation happening.

Right now I am working on a Anker duplomatic type 488. repair sewing. Is there anyone who knows where I can find a manual for this type of machine?
