I really should stop collecting machines because they look good. Looks can be deceiving. The good news is that this machine was another one that was local to me and inexpensive. It also came with most of its accessories. I did not have this model, so was curious to see what it was like. Aesthetically, it is really lovely. Unfortunately it has many plastic parts as would be expected from a machine from this era.

I got this machine home and before I did anything I pulled off the back cover and then could see why this machine has apparently remained unused all these years. The motor drive belt has snapped. The machine itself has seen very little use and turns over smoothly. The right hand stitch dial has a crack and needs repair (as it is plastic). When plugged in the motor sounds great. I will replace the belt as I have been told by my sewing machine guy (Mike and the mechanicals in Hawthorn) that it can be done by removing a few parts. So in time I will deliver it to him and ask him to replace the belt.

Overall it is a nice looking machine, not much smaller than my red Husqvarna 2000, but with few stitches and much, much lighter in weight.

This machine did not come with a manual, but I did locate a fairly decent (though not perfect) pdf online and have shared it here. The user manual for this machine the Husqvarna Viking 5710 available for free download from my google drive from here.
