This machine came to me in November 2024.
To be perfectly honest I was not looking to add this machine to my collection. In my storage somewhere (safe and sound) is a Brown 306 which I acquired in Feb 2022. As much as I love the 300 series Singer, I did not plan to add another 306 as my space is limited. The 306 does not have as many features as the 319 and I have a couple of 319s and a 320 freearm. However, I saw this one being advertised around the corner for “free” and it looked in lovely shape, I was too tempted to look the other way and brought her home.
The person giving her away said that it had belonged to their grandmother, so they were happy someone would appreciate it. The decals are still lovely and the machine is in very good condition. Luckily for me the bight screw, which is usually missing, was in the draw of the little cabinet. I already have this machine on my workbench and it is working perfectly. It came with one cam still attached, the #1. I am very glad I decided to add this machine to my collection.
This machine belongs to the Singer Swing Needle Sewing Machines group, which consisist of models 206, 306, 319, and 320. These machines take a shorter than usual needle, 206X13 needle system. So, if you find one of these machines, make sure you are using the correct needles size or if you want to use standard needles, then research this and get a modified bobbin case or modify it yourself. The machine did not come with a manual, but I found a few at the Facebook group Singer Swing Needle Sewing Machines – Models 206, 306, 319, and 320 . I have downloaded one of the manuals that they have and uploaded it to my google drive. The manual is available for free on my drive , just click this link and it will take you directly there.
